The Black Godfather is one of those lost underrated black exploitation films from the 1970’s that will please the palate of even the most discriminating of cinematic connoisseurs.
J.J., a rising star in the black crime scene, is in the process of consolidating his power over the neighborhood. One of the only remaining obstacles is the white heroin cartel that is understandably reluctant to abandon such a lucrative market. Tensions rise between the two rivals, and people on both sides get killed. Eventually, the matter is destined to come to an explosive confrontation.
With amazing performances by Rod Perry, Jimmy Witherspoon, and Tangela Dixon, this is an urban mobster tale at its best. This is an unforgettable film that I cannot recommend enough. This movie has influenced everything from gangster rap to New Jack City.

Blaxploitation meets kung fu movie in this oddball hybrid revenge flick. As with all these kung fu movies from the 1970’s, you have to wonder why the bad guys always let the unarmed good guy get close enough to lop off their heads!
Our hero is double crossed by his partners on the way home from combat duty in Vietnam (via a quick drugs score) and ends up in the sea with a slashed throat. Hero washes up on a beach and is trained in the arts of killing Japanese style by two WWII soldiers still holding out on a Pacific island despite the war ending thirty years earlier.
When the opportunity arises, our hero returns to the now mean streets of Los Angeles and begins a one-man clean-up operation to rid the city of the organized crime scum who run the town. But then our hero’s wife and child are kidnapped by his former partners…and the killing begins. This classic revenge film is well worth your time!

This action-packed feature stars Richard Lawson as street fighter Leroy Fisk. Leroy works for the mob but wants out, dreaming of one day opening his own nightclub. A classic from the 1970s “Blaxploitation” genre, BLACK FIST follows Leroy’s attempts to seek revenge after a crooked cop teams up with his boss in an attempt to keep Leroy down.
Richard Lawson has done most of his work for TV, which is too bad, because he’s one hell of a bad ass action movie star. In “Black Fist”, Lawson is the diamond-in-the-rough that saves this movie from its low-budget sins. His performance is excellent and keeps our rapt attention as the story unfolds. Dabney Coleman and Philip Michael Thomas co-star.
